
Dr Orla Carty
Dr Orla Carty qualified from Trinity College Dublin in 2012 with First Class Honours. Along with other prizes she was also awarded the Sheldon Friel Prize for finishing first in her class and the Gold Medal in Orthodontics by the Irish Orthodontic Society.
Orla then broadened her experiences by completing Dental Foundation Training in a busy South London dental practice, a Senior House Officer position at the Dublin Dental University Hospital, and Dental Core Training posts in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Liverpool. During this period, she undertook further examinations and achieved Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Education.
Orla completed her Orthodontic Specialist Training in Liverpool (2015-2018) and was awarded the prestigious William Houston Gold Medal by The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh for achieving the highest marks in the exit examination (MOrth). She simultaneously completed her Doctorate in Orthodontics at the University of Liverpool which included research looking at three-dimensional facial asymmetry in children, based at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.
Since becoming a Specialist Orthodontist, Orla has gained experience in specialist practice and in hospital settings in Liverpool, Manchester and North Wales, treating a whole range of complex malocclusions (bites) in both adults and children. She has undertaken additional
education and training in complex treatments and has been elected as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Orla also has an interest in aesthetic treatments and is a trained comprehensive Invisalign and WINN lingual appliance provider.
